The Irish Computer Society, which operates F1 in Schools in Ireland, uses the popular pix.ie website to support the storage, sharing and organisation of photographs relating to its various activities.

F1 in Schools World Finals 2015

Singapore (13-16 September, 2015)

Over 250 students comprising 47 teams from 30 countries competed to claim the coveted title of world champions. AIB Racing from St. Muredach's College in Ballina, Co Mayo, secured third place in the global Formula 1 design competition. Transition year students Aaron Hannon, Enda Flanagan, Paul Flynn and Robert Grimes attended the Malaysian Grand Prix before returning home to a hero's welcome.

Dublin Castle (29 April, 2015)

Team Verus Racing from St. Attracta's Community School, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo, were overall winners of the 2015 F1 in Schools Technology Challenge. Ignition Racing from Presentation College, Headford, Co. Galway, claimed top spot in the junior category. A total of 83 teams from 52 schools across 18 counties particpated in the 2014-15 season.

Griffith Colege Dublin (12-13 March, 2015)

The action was fast and furious in Griffith College, which hosted the last of the regional events of Season 2014-15. A total of over 40 teams competed for a chance at qualifying for the national level.

Castlebar (7 March, 2015)

Seven victorious teams saw off competition from a field of another 15 teams: 50CCE and Fusion F1 from Donegal, Team Elphinity and NRG Racing from Roscommon, Ignition Racing from Galway, Team AIB Racing from Mayo, and Verus Racing from Sligo all made it through to the national finals.

UL, LImerick (3 March, 2015)

Despite the adverse weather conditions, ten teams battled it out to qualify for a place in the National Finals. Four teams progressed to the next stage: Nolan's F1+ from Kilkenny, Surge Racing from Tipperary, ZT Racing from Galway, and Turbo Titans from Limerick.

World Championships 2009

London (September 2009)

Koni Kats from St. Davids Secondary School in Greystones, Co. Wicklow were crowned F1 in Schools World Champions after a tough three days of completion in London on 15- 7th September 2009.

Thirty one teams from over 20 countries worldwide competed, but Koni Kats were the ones to take home the Bernie Ecclestone World Championship Trophy. Check out our collection of photographs.

2008 championship winners Koni Cats enjoyed their visit to the Honda F1 Racing HQ in the UK. As you can see from the pics the lads had a tour of the factory and an exclusive 20-minute chat with Honda's aero dynamist on the different aspects of their car.

National Conference (November 2007)

F1 in Schools played an active role in the 2007 National Conference of the Engineering Techonology Teachers' Association at the Mullingar Park Hotel, Westmeath on 23-24 November 2007. Ms Gillian Farrar, Project Manager of F1 in Schools, delivered a presentation on the Challenge to teachers and guests at the conference dinner. Teachers then had the opportunity to battle it out for Honda prizes at the F1 in Schools Teachers' Challenge.

Minister Launches 2007-08 Season

The Minister for Education and Science, Mary Hanafin TD, met with students from St Aidan's CBS Whitehall and Scoil Iosagain Stillorgan, to officially launch the new season of the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge. Also attending the launch were Frank Kennedy of Universal Honda, Jim Friars of the Irish Computer Society and Peter Brabazon of Discover Science & Engineering.

Minister's support for educative, fun initiative (Sept 2006)

Winners of the 2006 F1 in Schools 2006 National Championship, Team Blade of Fire from St Ailbe's School, Tipperary, received the opportunity to meet Minister for Trade Enterprise and Employment, Micheal Martin, TD, on 20 September 2006.

The occasion was the official launch of the F1 in Schools 2006-07 Championship Season. The winning Blade of Fire team consisted of Stephen Quinn, Anthony Power, Siobhan Daly, Stephanie Tracey, and Pat Noonan.

Prize-winning team's amazing day out (Sept 2006)

In addition to the €5,000 of IT equipment awarded for their school, 2006 champions Blade of Fire from St Ailbe's School, Tipperary, also won a trip to the Honda F1 Team Operation Centre in UK. Take a peek our 16-photo collection of this exciting trip. Among the highlights of the day was the sight of engineers putting together the Honda F1 Grand Prix car for the next day's Chinese Grand Prix.
