On behalf of the Irish Computer Society Foundation, we would like to thank all the teams who participated in the two Regional Finals of F1 in Schools Season 2015-16: the Eastern Regional Finals at Dublin Citywest Hotel on February 25th and 26th, and the Western Regional Finals at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Castlebar, on 4th March.
As the teams quickly realised, to succeed at F1 in Schools you have to work hard on your project from many angles, whether it’s engineering, business skills, marketing, graphic design, public speaking or the quality of your portfolio.
Each team was judged in four categories by our judges: Stands, Verbal Presentation, Engineering and Racing. Judging was spaced out throughout the day to give teams an opportunity to experience and enjoy the event, visit other teams’ stands, and, of course, watch some exciting races!
When things started to wind down and judging had concluded, the teams eagerly awaited the announcement of the afternoon Awards ceremony.
We were delighted to give formal recognition to the schools and their teams for the massive effort they put in over the past few months. Although it was very close, there could only be one winner in each award category.

At GMIT Castlebar 23 teams competing throughout the one-day event on 4th March, which made for a highly energetic, competitive environment.
